Therapy for Stone Mountain
Painful experiences don't always stay in the past. They can show up as jumpiness, nightmares, numbness, or reactions that seem bigger than the moment. If you're in Stone Mountain and something you've been through still has a grip on you, a trauma-informed therapist can help you work through it at a pace that feels safe.
Our Georgia-licensed therapists meet clients over secure video throughout DeKalb County and the rest of the state. Meeting from your own space can make it easier to talk about hard things. We accept major commercial insurance and Georgia Medicaid, and private pay is welcome.

Therapy services
What therapy with us looks like
For most people, therapy starts with individual sessions: a weekly or every-other-week video appointment with one therapist who gets to know your history, your goals and the way you think. Ongoing worry, low mood, relationship strain, work stress and grief are all common reasons to begin.
Couples therapy follows a clear arc. The first two or three sessions cover your history together, what is working and what isn't, and some individual time with each partner. After that, sessions focus on practicing new ways of talking, and they taper to every other week, then monthly, as things shift.
Insurance and cost
Coverage, checked before you start
Insurance can be a maze, so we handle it. Once you submit the intake form, we verify your benefits and tell you what each session will cost. With insurance, that's as low as $0 per session, depending on your plan.
We accept Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, Optum / UnitedHealthcare and Humana. For Georgia Medicaid, we work with Amerigroup, CareSource and Peach State Health Plan. Some Medicare Advantage plans through Aetna and Humana are accepted, but traditional Medicare is not. Private pay, HSA and FSA are welcome.

Consent, safety updates and family sessions
Around the school day
Weekdays until 7pm ET and weekends
We see teens ages 13 to 17 for anxiety, low mood, school stress, family conflict, identity questions, social media pressure and more. Our teen therapists work specifically with adolescents, and sessions are 45 to 50 minutes by secure video, so your teen can log on from their bedroom instead of being driven across DeKalb County.
A parent or legal guardian completes the intake form and signs consent, and we talk briefly with both of you before matching. After that, sessions belong to your teen. Parents don't get session-by-session content, but they do hear about safety concerns and progress milestones, with the teen's knowledge, and family sessions every four to six weeks keep you connected to the goals.
Our hours run until 7pm ET on weekdays and from 10am to 3pm ET on Saturdays, with Sunday sessions by arrangement, so you can look for a time after school or on the weekend instead of pulling your teen out of class.

How online therapy works
Getting the most out of video sessions
Online sessions work best when you treat them like an appointment: find a private spot, silence notifications, and give yourself a few minutes before and after. Your therapist can see you, hear you and work through exercises with you in real time.
Since you're not driving anywhere in DeKalb County, it's easier to keep a steady weekly rhythm. Our hours are Monday to Friday, 8am to 7pm ET, and Saturday, 10am to 3pm ET, with Sunday sessions by arrangement. Wherever you join from, you need to be in Georgia during the session.

Coaching
Life and relationship coaching
Not everything calls for therapy. Life coaching is forward-looking and goal-driven: a career change, a leadership role, a transition you want to handle on purpose. Relationship coaching helps partners, daters and individuals build practical skills like communication and decision-making. Neither requires a diagnosis.
Most of our coaches hold ICF credentials. Coaching isn't a medical service, so insurance doesn't cover it, and rates are shared on your welcome call before you commit. If what you describe sounds more clinical, we'll tell you and point you to therapy instead.
Getting started
What your first session looks like
From the first form to your first session usually takes about a week. Here is the path.
- 1
Tell us a little
A four-step form that takes about two minutes: who you are, what's bringing you in, how you'd like to pay, and your preferences. You don't enter any payment information online.
- 2
A care coordinator calls
Within 24 to 72 hours, a real person reaches out to confirm details, answer questions and make sure we're the right fit. If we're not, we'll help you find the right place.
- 3
Portal and paperwork
You get access to our secure client portal to sign consent, privacy and intake forms. We verify your benefits and tell you your per-session cost.
- 4
Your first session
Fifty minutes over secure video. Your therapist gets to know you and starts building a plan with you, not a generic protocol.

Questions people ask before starting
Do you have an office in Stone Mountain?
There's no physical office in Stone Mountain. Sessions are held by secure video with Georgia-licensed therapists, so you can meet from home, a private office, or anywhere in the state with a closed door and a good connection.
Can I pay without using insurance?
Yes. Private pay is welcome at a simple per-session rate, confirmed before your first session, with no subscription or membership. HSA and FSA cards are accepted, and we can provide superbills if you want to seek out-of-network reimbursement.
What should I do in a crisis?
MentalSpace Therapy is not a crisis service. If you are in danger, call 911. For a mental health crisis, call or text 988, the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, or call the Georgia Crisis & Access Line at 1-800-715-4225. Both are available 24 hours a day.
Do you accept Medicare?
We don't currently accept traditional Medicare. We do accept some Medicare Advantage plans through Aetna and Humana, and we'll verify yours during intake. If neither applies, private pay is available at a per-session rate confirmed before your first session.
Does insurance cover life or relationship coaching?
No. Coaching isn't a medical service, so insurance doesn't apply. Rates depend on the coach's credential and are shared on your welcome call before you commit. If what you need is clinical, such as treatment for anxiety or depression, therapy can be billed to insurance.
