Online Therapy in Columbus, Georgia

Online couples, individual and teen therapy for Columbus, with Georgia-licensed therapists and weekday evening and weekend hours.

Therapy for Columbus

Couples therapy doesn't require you to sit side by side. If one of you travels for work or you keep different hours, Columbus couples can join sessions from two different places, as long as both partners are physically in Georgia at the time. Licensing rules require that, and we'll help you plan around it.

Columbus is in Muscogee County. MentalSpace Therapy serves Muscogee County and the rest of Georgia by secure video, and our hours run Monday through Friday until 7pm ET and Saturdays from 10am to 3pm ET, with Sunday sessions by arrangement. We confirm insurance coverage, including Georgia Medicaid, before your first session.

Who we help

You don't need a crisis to start

Couples come to us about communication, trust, intimacy and big decisions. Individuals come about anxiety, depression, grief and stress. Parents come about teens ages 13 to 17. If one partner later moves out of state, we'll help coordinate a referral so care doesn't just stop.

You might be dealing with

  • Grief after a death, a breakup or another loss
  • A teenager who is struggling at school or at home
  • Trouble sleeping, focusing or getting through the day
  • Questions about identity, belonging or who you are becoming

How online therapy works

Getting the most out of video sessions

Online sessions work best when you treat them like an appointment: find a private spot, silence notifications, and give yourself a few minutes before and after. Your therapist can see you, hear you and work through exercises with you in real time.

Since you're not driving anywhere in Muscogee County, it's easier to keep a steady weekly rhythm. Our hours are Monday to Friday, 8am to 7pm ET, and Saturday, 10am to 3pm ET, with Sunday sessions by arrangement. Wherever you join from, you need to be in Georgia during the session.

Therapy services

Individual therapy and couples counseling, online

Therapy doesn't need to mean a couch in an office across town. For Columbus adults, individual therapy happens over secure video from home or any private room in Georgia. Sessions are about 50 minutes, and you see the same therapist each week so the work builds over time.

For couples, therapy is a structured process: an assessment phase, a working phase where you practice new patterns between sessions, and a tapering phase. Every couple is different, and your therapist will be honest with you about what they are seeing as you go.

Therapists who specialize in adolescents

Parents stay involved

Consent, safety updates and family sessions

Around the school day

Weekdays until 7pm ET and weekends

Our teen program is for 13- to 17-year-olds anywhere in Muscogee County, including Columbus. Therapists who specialize in adolescents help with anxiety, depression, school avoidance, social media comparison, identity, and conflict at home, using language that doesn't talk down to teens.

Here is how parents fit in: you fill out the form and sign consent, we speak with you and your teen before pairing them with a therapist, and you join family check-ins every four to six weeks. Siblings can each have their own therapist, which often works better than sharing one.

There's no commute, so a session can start a few minutes after your teen gets home. Weekday times run until 7pm ET, Saturday times from 10am to 3pm ET, and Sunday times by arrangement, depending on the therapist's availability.

Insurance and cost

What therapy costs with insurance

The short answer: as low as $0 per session with insurance, depending on your plan. Georgia Medicaid plans, meaning Amerigroup, CareSource and Peach State Health Plan, typically have a $0 copay. Commercial plans usually mean a copay or coinsurance once any deductible is met.

Commercial plans we accept include Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, Optum / UnitedHealthcare and Humana, along with some Aetna and Humana Medicare Advantage plans. We make the benefits calls for you and share the dollar amount before you're scheduled. If you'd rather not use insurance, private pay is available at a per-session rate confirmed in advance.

Coaching

Coaching for goals, not diagnoses

Life coaching and relationship coaching are skills- and decision-focused. A life coach can help you plan a career move or build habits that stick. A relationship coach can help you and a partner talk through decisions without the conversation turning into a fight.

Most of our coaches hold ICF credentials at the ACC, PCC or MCC level. Coaching is private pay, because insurance treats it as non-medical, and the per-session rate depends on the coach's credential.

Columbus FAQ

Questions people ask before starting

Can my partner and I join couples therapy from different places?

Yes, as long as you are both physically in Georgia at the time of the session. That's a licensing requirement. Many couples join from the same room; others join from two locations when work or travel keeps them apart. Both partners are covered under one session.

Do you have an office in Columbus?

We don't have an office in Columbus, or anywhere else, because all of our therapy is online. That means no drive and no waiting room: you join a secure video session from a private spot in Georgia, and paperwork happens in our client portal.

How quickly can I start?

The intake form takes about two minutes. A care coordinator calls within 24 to 72 hours, and the first session is usually within about a week, depending on therapist availability. No card is collected online and nothing is charged before your first session.

How do I start therapy for my teenager in Columbus?

A parent or legal guardian completes our intake form on the teen's behalf and signs consent. We see teens ages 13 to 17. A care coordinator talks briefly with both of you, then matches your teen with a therapist who specializes in adolescents. Sessions are by secure video, so your teen can join from home after school.

Is online therapy private?

Sessions run on a HIPAA-compliant video platform, and your paperwork lives in a secure client portal. You choose a private place to join from. If you use insurance, your plan sees a diagnosis code and dates of service, never the content of your sessions. Private pay is available if you'd rather not file a claim.
